
CLASSISM


DEFINITION
CLASSISM = Subjugating or unrightly persecuting someone due to their economic status; endorsing a system that perpetuates strictly class based culture.

Levels of Economic Status
Ruling Class - Individuals in positions of power within major profitable organizations.
Owning Class/Rich - Families whose finances include income-producing assets sufficient enough to make paid employment unnecessary.
Upper Middle Class - A section of the middle class with higher incomes as a result of professional employment and or investment income.
Middle Class - Families capable of a higher income as a result of higher education or specialized skill set.
Lower Middle Class - A section of the middle class with lower incomes as a result of minimal skill set or unstable employment.
Working Class - Families whose income depends on hourly wages for labor, or other working positions that do not require higher education.
Poverty Class - Families without an income sufficient enough to meet their basic human needs.
